lower my credit card rate

You can lower your credit card rate by simply doing these following steps:

1.  Call your credit card provider and asking them to please lower your rate.  This might sound quirky or very strange.  The reason for this is because it is very quirky and very, very rare.  The banks and credit card institutions will never ever ring you and say “Hello loyal customer, please let us lower your rate so you can afford more in this time of increasing petrol prices and mortgage rate hikes.”  By calling your credit card provider and asking them, they can only say “No” and then you can simply reply by stating, “Well, I didn’t want to switch to your competitor, but now I see that I will have to do that.”

2.  Search for better rates that are advertised with online promotions such as “Switch now and pay no interest for 6 months”.  Pay special attention to the placed ads on the websites that you visit.  The ones that we notice the most running are ANZ, St. George and Aussie.

3.  Visit a banking branch and enquire about their credit card services.  Share with the representative that you are unhappy with your current rate and ask them if you can have an interest free balance transfer.  Some local branches will approve this on the spot and some even have rates as low as 11.75% apr.
